Some of you have may seen that a few weeks ago I started giving free presentation training for women, with the ultimate aim of encouraging more women to speak, creating more opportunities for conferences and events to speak at and to try, in a very little way, to encourage more diversity at conferences within our industry.
This came about because of this photo…
…and it doesn’t take a Masters in Gender Studies to see what’s less than ideal about it.
This is from an event I took part in with Sistrix and was the only woman. Now, I’m not the kind of person to let this thing slide, so raised it with Juan (for those of you who know him, perhaps the nicest person in the world). He openly acknowledged it’s not what they want to create and whilst they try incredibly hard to promote inclusivity, they do struggle to find balance. As a result, Sistrix promised to help and support me in any way to try and do something about this. Bloody lovely, all friends here.
So, Sistrix have kindly paid for the meeting space and lunch to put on another training.
For those interested, here’s what some people said about the first:
Kirsty’s one-day speaker training programme provided exactly the confidence boost that I needed – since then I’ve pitched to speak at two SEO conferences and have been accepted for both. Kirsty’s style is informal and relaxed, allowing each participant to find their voice, pinpoint their own strengths and explore speaking in a supportive (and often hilarious) environment. Would recommend for anyone looking for a no-bullshit day to inspire, educate and most importantly propel you into action!
Just wanted to drop you a note to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU for yesterday! It was a really fun, interesting day! Definitely feeling more confident and willing to take on the world!
Thank you so much for running the presentation training yesterday. It has already boosted my confidence massively! Currently writing my first ever speakers pitch!
Based on this, there’s another! July 11th at the completely badass CitizenM hotel in London.
If you want to come, please register here! I’m running this training on a donation model, to keep this open, inclusive and accessible to everyone. Though if you, or your business, can contribute to my time and my caffeine intake, that would be gratefully received.
Spaces are very limited so do only register if you will actually come. (Thank you).
